Filoli kicks off its summer festivities next month, including staff-led hiking tours along the famous estate.

Staff at Filoli Historic House and Garden in Woodside are hosting guided evening strolls along its scenic hiking trail every Wednesday and Thursday beginning June 11.

Guests are invited to explore Filoli’s estate and grounds afterhours, as knowledgeable guides offer fascinating insights about the history, geography and conservation efforts of the worldclass estate. Filoli is a nationally-recognized historic landmark with 16 acres of formal gardens, a 54,000 square foot Georgian Revival style mansion, and over 600 acres of protected Peninsula watershed.

Originally built as a private residence in 1917, Filoli was opened to the public in 1975 as a nonprofit organization and site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The property is considered one of the few remaining country estates of the 20th century, and famously hosted a diplomatic summit between former President Joe Biden and President Xi Jinping of China in 2023.

Summer sunset hikes are part of Filoli’s enchanting Summer Nights, when the estate stays open until 8 p.m. every Thursday through September. Estate guests may enjoy refreshments from Filoli’s Bluebird Bar or purchase dinner from a local food in the meadow overlooking the sunset. Starting in June, a rotating list of local artists will perform live at Filoli’s outdoor Summer Stage.
